What Stage Are You?

Pearls (Ages 5-9)

The life cycle of a butterfly is truly amazing.  Similar to butterflies, girls go through stages in life before they are considered an adult.  The very first stage of life is when an adult butterfly lays an egg.  At this stage, the eggs are very fragile and tiny. The probability of the egg surviving depends on its surroundings. At this age, girls are very impressionable and it's important that they have a surrounding that's positive, stable and nourishing for them to grow and blossom.

Caterpillars (Ages 10-12)

After a butterfly egg hatches, a caterpillar emerges.  Caterpillars need to eat and eat so they can grow quickly. When they start eating, they instantly start growing and expanding in size.  Girls between the ages of 10-12 (preteens) are similar to caterpillars.  At this age, they consume so much information from their surroundings.  Young girls are busy working out who they are and where they fit into the world. You might notice that your child is searching for identity. This search can be influenced by gender, peer group, cultural background and family expectations.  Therefore, Girl Flight, Inc. will strive to give girls (caterpillars) a strong foundation as they find themselves and discover where they fit in the world by building their self-esteem and character.

Cocoons (Ages 13-17)

The cocoon stage is one of the coolest stages of a butterfly’s life.  As soon as a caterpillar is done growing and they have reached their full length/weight, they form themselves into a cocoon.  From the outside of the cocoon, it looks as if the caterpillar may just be resting, but the inside is where all of the action is.  Inside, the caterpillar is rapidly changing.  Just like a butterfly goes through a metamorphosis, the teen years is that remarkable transformation stage for girls between the ages of 13-17.  During this time, teenagers face so many issues like body image, peer acceptance, peer pressure, relationships, homework, projects, assessments, graduation, college applications…and list goes on and on.  To be honest, being a teenage girl in today’s society is tough!  With teen depression, teen bullying and teen suicide on the rise among our girls, they need to know that they are not alone and Girl Flight, Inc. has their back.

Butterflies (Ages 18-24)

Finally, when the caterpillar has done all of its forming and changing inside the cocoon, a beautiful butterfly will emerge and hopefully, it’s right before your eyes.  At the age of 18, you are legally considered an adult but that doesn’t mean that everything gets easier from here…it actually gets kind of intimidating.  At this age, you are probably entering college and you don’t know anyone there. Or you may be entering the workplace but don’t have an idea what a resume is or how to prepare or dress for an interview.  Our Flight staff has a diverse background of experience and knowledge to help you at any stage of your life.
